On New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, we will continue with our long-standing tradition of hosting two days of practice and aspiration prayers to purposefully conclude one year and intentionally move into the next. Using the turning of the calendar to reflect on our past year of dharma practice, we will rejoice in our efforts of the past twelve months, and we will create aspirations and set some intentions for moving into and through the year to come.

Each day we will engage with our main practices of shamatha and vipashyana and the four immeasurables of loving kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. Through these practices we approach our inherent wisdom and compassion in the context of meditation so we might more readily access these resources in daily life. As usual, there will be frequent stretch breaks and some opportunities for questions and discussion.

We will share a potluck lunch on both days, please bring vegetarian or vegan options to share. The event will be a hybrid offering with the option of attending at KCC or via Zoom.

On the morning of January 1st at 11:00am, there will be a refuge ceremony for anyone interested in formally embarking on the Buddhist path. In this brief ceremony, one formally takes refuge in Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha (the teacher, the teachings, and the exalted community of followers) as supports for one’s awakening. A token amount of hair is cut and a Buddhist name is given. If you are considering this or would like to know more, please contact Lama Eric: trinle.thaye@gmail.com for a meeting.
