Introduction to Meditation: Beginning the Journey
With Lama Eric Triebelhorn
July 22, 2023
Due to the plethora and variety of advice about meditation or mindfulness these days, it can be difficult to know how to approach sitting practice in the context of Buddhism. We have many questions, such as what do these many approaches have in common and what makes a particular practice part of the Buddhist path? Understanding the greater context of meditation practice helps us to develop confidence and a sense of direction.
In this class, Lama Eric will offer a general overview of the purpose of meditation from the Buddhist perspective, the benefits of the practice, advice on comfort and posture, and several short guided meditation sessions. We will pause frequently to make time for discussion and clarification.
Please join us as we explore how to skillfully begin the journey to deeper clarity and open-heartedness.
This workshop will be in person at the Portland Center and on Zoom.
We aim to make meditation and the Dharma accessible to all who seek it. If cost is a barrier to you, please contact us at events@kcc.org and let us know what is within your means.
After the program, check your email for a discount code for $10 off our next workshop: Establishing a Daily Practice
