Shamatha Retreat - Finding Calm in the Midst of Chaos (3 days)
With Lama Eric Triebelhorn and Lama Sonam Dargye
June 10 - 13, 2021
Shamatha, or resting meditation, is the basis of all our meditation practices. Through this practice we develop mindfulness and discover awareness, providing us with indispensable tools to more skillfully weather the inevitable stormy passages of life and to progress along the path from confusion to clarity.
We are pleased to announce that Lama Sonam Dargye of Eugene, an old friend of KCC, will be joining us. He will help us explore several techniques for this practice, including Kalu Rinpoche’s Extraordinary Shamatha which utilizes the five elements and consciousness as a support for the practice. The retreat setting allows for an intensive yet spacious opportunity to explore these meditations providing us with tools to continue on our own.
Though the days will be full, there will ample breaks and opportunities to stretch after every 30 minutes of sitting. Most of the time will be spent reflecting and meditating, but there will also be daily opportunities for questions and discussion. Limited opportunities will be provided to speak with the instructors as well.
There are no perquisites to participate in this retreat, but you must be able to attend all the sessions.
